Holi-The Festival of Colors celebrated with colors, fun and devotion at Barpeta Satra
Offering prayer on the very first day of 2017,it feels pretty relaxing to remember the Divine on such occasion.
Happy New Year 2017 to all… 🙂
The famous Vaishnavite Saint Mahapurash Srimanta Sankardeva was born at Borduwa and there he founded the first ever “Than” known as BataDrava Than situated in Nagaon district nearly 15 kms from Nagaon Town.
This “Than or Satra” has very religious importance as Srimanta Sankardeva started preaching Vaishnavite Religious ideas to his disciple in this Satra.
This place is well-connected from Nagaon Town by Bus,taxis or Tempos and One can reach Nagaon from Guwahati by Bus or Train.
One of the famous Satra not only in Barpeta but aslo in Assam, established by Vaishnavite Saint Madhabdev.
A beautiful collaboration of Art,Culture and Architecture, one can find immense peace and beauty in this Satra.Famous for its Doul Utsav(Holi Festival) celebrated during the Phagun Month of Assamese Calender,a spring colorful festival.
So,Lets get some glimpse of the Satra…

Barepeta Satra is an unique place of Devotion…The whole Satra wears a different color especially during the Holi..Generally Holi is a 3-5 days affair here…Holi festival in 2017 is going to be celebrated from 9 to 13th March,so if you wish to witness this extravaganza, plan your trip to Barpeta.
Barpeta is located around 90kms from Guwahati and communication is not a problem at all…
The Festival of colors-Holi,being celebrated at Barpeta Kritanghar,One of the few Satras in Assam where Holi is celebrated with much more colors and joy and this time near about 2 lakhs people attended the festival at Barpeta Kritanghar.
Guwahati-A City,A Home and surely where my Heart Belongs..
A City I have seen since I was 5 years old and now when I look at it after 20 years,I see the difference-A Tiny City growing into a cosmopolitan flavour.I have seen its rise and fall and now it looks steady in shaping itself in what we call a metro city, though it is way behind from most of the India’s well established cities but still it is developing in a much rapid pace,A pace I never thought Guwahati would ever attain..Now I just love to see its progress, imagine a better and bigger picture of Guwahati. So much is associated with this City,it won’t be wrong to say entire Assam or North-East develops with its development.Being the gateway to North-East,Guwahati has its own flavor developing in its own niche, from tall buildings, commercial hubs, food joints, picturesque scenery,it does offer a lot to its locals as well as to the folks who visit this place.Guwahati is to entire North-East as what Delhi,Mumbai or Bengaluru is to India.
Every city has its own set of problems and Guwahati is no exception but what important is how we tackle them, over the years Guwahati has done that, still a long way to go..but Guwahati’s progress is certainly driving other towns and cities in Assam to be progressive.
That was little insight of my lovely, little city..And I wish my city to prosper in every way possible.. 🙂
Will be writing on Guwahati more often with more details..
