Voters Right to Reject all Candidates–Landmark Judgement By SC

On Friday one of the landmark judgement by SC powered the Voters with the Right to reject all the candidates mentioned in the Ballot Machine(Electronic Voting Machine)…I must appreciate SC for some the recent Landmark Judgement but this one is above all…Kudos to SC.. 😀

Now What the Right is all about–Read On

Supreme Court-The Highest Judicial Forum and Final Court of Appeal in India on Friday in a landmark judgement for the first time provided the option of casting a negative vote to the Voters if they find no suitable candidates.

In a democracy like India such judgement and right is very much appreciated especially at the current moment when Politics is full of Corrupted Politicians.A much appreciated judgement before the General Elections in 2014.

Supreme Court has asked the Election Commission to provide the option of “None of the Above “(NOTA) at the end of the list of the Candidate’s in Electronic Voting Machine(EVM’s).

SC said–“If right to vote is statutory right, right to reject candidate is fundamental right of speech and expression under Constitution”.

With these Power the citizens will be able to do much more justice to their votes and I believe will use this Right in for the betterment of India.

Please share the news as much as possible as everyone should know about this right.. 🙂
And here is the Highlights of the Judgement passed as appeared on Times of India

Our Right to Vote

voteIndia-Known as the World’s Largest Democracy,Democratic because we have an elected Government-elected by the People of India, but do we really have an elected government?

If I were to say then in my view it would be selected government and the reason for this is that most of us does not even bother to Vote especially the we ‘the educated ones’ whereas the illiterate ones who does not have much knowledge on voting are easily lured by the Politicians using different schemes they come up with before Election.

Few days ago Karnataka Elections were held and Bangalore being the largest city in Karnataka had a turnout of just 52-53% in urban areas whereas the rural areas had a turnout of 75-80% and the scenario is almost same in all the metros and important cities in India where most of the literate people lives.

We should not simply let go our constitutional right to vote. Our vote has a value and we the citizen of India must take necessary step to make it count. Before election we must make some amount of background research like his/her character,his/her qualifications, views, assets, any criminal activity etc. on the candidates standing in election and I think it is not difficult in this technology driven modern era. This is one such website that provides information on each candidate of your constituency/ward and email you the candidate details accordingly.

By this means we can cast our vote rightly and if even after all these we don’t find any suitable candidate then Election Commission of India has also provided provision of casting our vote in no one’s favor and this is known as Null Voting or Rule 49-O.

3017566454_dont_forget_to_vote_xlarge

Rule 49-O refers to elector who decide not to record his vote after going through all rules of casting a vote. The main advantage of this rule is that if suppose a candidate from a ward win by 200 votes and if the number of ‘Rule 49-O‘ votes is more than the candidates 200 votes then the polling in that particular ward is cancelled and re-polling is done and the candidature of the contestants will also be removed and they won’t be able to contest in re-polling.

So,people especially urban people,if we are aware of various rules and rights, slowly and steadily changes will be there which will be visible and we will have an India on the roads of development.

So,Next time when the Election comes do not stay behind, just go and show your power and right to vote for a better India.
