The reason I started blogging was because I wanted to put some lights on North East India Tourism,from time to time I have written about NE India in this blog but I felt I was not doing enough as this blog is almost about everything I feel like Blogging… ūüėÄ

Since I started blogging I tried my hands on many thing and to most extent I have done well I believe,but the Sole Purpose of starting All Resource was somehow overlooked by me as I know the potential of NE India and there will be endless topic to write about them..

North East India-Nagaland

Now it’s time we move on from Mizoram and get closer to another naturally beautiful state of NE India-Nagaland.It lies in the far-east of North East bordering with Assam,Arunachal Pradesh,Manipur and International Borders with Myanmar.

The Capital of Nagaland is Kohima.It is known for its virgin beauty and the amazing views of the Naga Hills.The place holds historical importance as the site of the battle between the British and Japanese troops during the World War II.The main important and largest city of Nagaland is Dimapur which is also the commercial capital of Nagaland,all business flows in and out through Dimapur.

Dimapur and Kohima is very well connected by roads from Guwahati,By Rail from Guwahati to Dimapur and by air from Kolkata and Dibrugarh to Dimapur which has the only Airport of Nagaland.I insist tourist going from Guwahati to Nagaland take the roads as to enjoy the Natural and Exhilarating Views,I am sure you all will love it.

1.Naga Heritage Village:-Situated about 12 kilometers from Kohima at Kisima,the Naga Heritage Village offers a panorama of nature, cheerful and hospitality of people.The objective of the Heritage Village is to protect and preserve all ethnic cultural heritages by establishing a common management approach and comprehensive data base for perpetuation and maintenance for promotion of tourism. It also aims to uphold and sustain the distinct identity of dialects, customs and traditions of all the ethnic tribes of Nagaland.Hornbill Festival,an important Naga festival is held here in December every year.

2.Intanki Wildlife Sanctuary:-At a distance of 37 Km from Dimapur and 111 km from Kohima,this sanctuary is home to various animals including some rare species of birds. The sanctuary is a large collection of bird and is rich with varied wealth of flora & fauna.

3.Shilloi Lake:-The most prominent tourist attraction in the Phek district,Shilloi Lake is a beautiful,mesmerising water body shaped as a footprint.The enchanting location of the lake makes a visit to it worthwhile. Located on the lower slopes of the Patkai Range bordering Myanmar, the lake has an area of 0.25 to 0.30 sq. km.The depth of the lake is 4 metres.

4.Dzukou Valley and Japfu Peak:-Japfu peak standing at a height of 3048 m above sea level is the second highest peak in Nagaland.This peak is situated at 15 km distance towards south of Kohima and is the main attraction for many trekking parties and enthusiasts.The¬†Dz√ľkou Valley¬†is¬†located at the border of Nagaland¬†and¬†Manipur.This valley is well known for its natural beauty,seasonal flowers and the overall flora and fauna.

5.Kohima War Cemetery:-Kohima has a large cemetery of 1,420 Allied war dead maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.The cemetery lies on the slopes of Garrison Hill which mark as a tribute to the soldiers died in the Battle of Kohima during Second World War.

6.Khonoma Village:-At a distance of around 20 kms know as the Green Village in India as the Naga People residing here don’t hurt or cut trees.With greenery and nice people all around this is a must visit for Nature Lover’s.

7.Kohima Museum:-The Kohima Museum was set up with an aim to provide the visitors a glimpse of the diverse tribal habitats and cultures.The museum houses some of the rarest artifacts belonging to the different tribes inhabiting the state.The sixteen tribal groups that make up the tribes of Nagaland are represented amongst the others.The clan motifs,colorful traditional dresses,dialect,practices and traditions are displayed at the museum.

8.Mount Tiyi:-Located in Wokha town,the mount,more clearly defined as a large hill,stands at 1969.91 meters above sea level.It is well known for its fabulous lushness,the colorful Rhododendron flowers and the robust variety of bird and plant species.

9.Doyang River:- Doyang River is one of the largest and most prominent rivers in Nagaland which flows through the Wokha district about 21 kilometers from the town. It is also known as the Dzu or Dzulu by the local tribes.

10.Totsu Wozhu Lake:-Located in the south of Phiru-Shaki area of Wokha this lake is much larger than other lakes and covers an area of one acre.Tourist visiting the lake can also find various hill fishes.

11.Langpangkong Range:-The Langpangkong caves are located in the Langpangkong mountain range of Nagaland.It is in the valley of Dikhu and Tzula rivers in the Mokokchung district of Nagaland.

12.Changkikong Range:-This is a parallel Range east of Japukong Range. Changki village was said to be founded by a man named Changki, and so the Range too was named after him as Changkikong.Located in Mokokchung district of Nagaland.

13.Ongpangkong:-It is the southernmost range forming an irregular boundary of the Ao area with that of the Lothas and Semas to the south and with the Sangtams to the east.It is called Ongpangkong as the land is higher and cooler than the other ranges. (Ongpang means higher).Located in Mokokchung district of Nagaland.

14.Kachari Ruins:-Kachari ruins are situated in Dimapur, the ancient Kachari capital. It is one of the important sites of megalithic culture. Most of the ruins appear to be contemporaneous with the Kachari civilization.

15.Triple Falls:-Located in Dimapur is another picturesque place that will catch your fancy is Triple Fall,the water cascades from a height of about 280 feet and forms a natural pool.The picture-perfect place is a treat to trekkers.The village is transformed as a tourist resort,you can rejuvenate your energies while relaxing amongst the salubrious surroundings.

16.Nagaland Science Centre:-Located in Dimapur,promotes¬†the idea ‚Äėdiscover science in action‚Äô through its innovation and noble theme park.The science centre was started by the state government as an initiative to make science interesting,playful and informal. There are different galleries in the Nagaland Science Centre and each one of them have equipment based on themes.

17.Fakim Wildlife Sanctuary:-The Fakim Wildlife Sanctuary in Kiphire district is ideal for nature lovers and animal enthusiasts.The sanctuary is considered to be an abode for many wildlife animals such as leopards,tigers,wild buffaloes,hoolock gibbons and mithun. Hornbill,the most popular bird in Nagaland is also abundantly found in the Fakim Wildlife Sanctuary.It is easily accessible from Kohima and Dimapur by Road.

18.Veda Peak:-Also,known as Pak Koi,Veda Peak is the highest peak of the Mon district in Nagaland.Situated approximately 70 kilometres from the district headquarters,you will experience a picturesque view of the mountains and the rivers from Veda Peak which will surely mesmerize you.You can view the mighty Brahmaputra and the Chindwin rivers from the peak on a clear day.

Best time to visit Nagaland is between October to May and during this period you can also the popular ¬†festival of Nagaland ‘The Hornbill Festival’,Hornbill being the most admired bird of Nagaland.The festival is held in the month of December.

Before embarking on a journey to Nagaland, acquiring the entry permit is a must. Domestic tourists should obtain the Inner Line permit issued by the authorities mentioned below. Permit fee is INR 6 per applicant.Foreigners to register themselves at the local Foreigners Registration Officer (FRO) of the district they visit within 24 hours of their arrival. However, the the citizens of Pakistan, Bangladesh and China still need to apply for PAP/ RAP from Home Ministry to visit Nagaland.This is a temporary change in effect for one year.The RAP/PAP application process is included below for those tourists who may still be affected by the previous rules.For more information visit here.It is best to get the Permit from the Nagaland House in Delhi, Aurangzeb Road, New Delhi(Ph: +91 11 23012296)

North East India-Mizoram

It’s been a long time and I am still in Meghalaya.So in this ¬†post lets get out of Meghalaya and look for other visual treat in Mizoram,another NE state know as the¬†land of rolling hills, valleys, rivers and lakes.

Mizoram has lot more to offer for the nature lovers,the land of hill people(Mizo People).The Capital City of Mizoram is Aizawl and the main important centre in Mizoram.The Official language is Mizo but English and Hindi is also widely spoken.Mizoram a well connected by Rail,Roads and Air.It is at a distance of around 490ms from Guwahati and 390kms from Shillong.

There is a lot more to see in MIzoram rather than describing them in words though I will cover the important tourist places of MIzoram,it is not limited to only the ones covered in the post.So lets visit Mizoram.

1.Aizawl:-The capital city of Mizoram,situated at about 1132 meters above sea level. It is a beautiful and bustling 112 years old city set on ridges of steep hills.At an altitude of 4,000 ft above sea level,the highlighting characteristics of the region is timber houses positioned between profusion of flowers.

2.Tam Dil:-Situated at a distance of 85 kms from Aizawl,it is a tranquil lake. Choose to pedal a boat through the placid waters or just relax. The nearby jungle has a plethora of flora and fauna.This is also a fish farm and serves as a picnic spot.

3.Champhai:-¬†Champhai,a bustling commercial town at the Indo-Myanmar border,is a beautiful place that offers plenty to tourist attraction.Storehouse of¬†of ancient relics, monuments and memorials connected with legends and folklores this town is situated at a distance of about 192 ¬†kms from Aizawl also known as ‘Fruit and Rice¬† Bowl Of Mizoram’ because of the enormous production of Rice and Grapes and the town has many Vineyards,Orchids,Rice fields etc

Places to see in Champhai are Murlen National Park,Rih Dil a heart shaped lake,Lengteng Wildlife Sanctuary,Palak Wildlife Sanctuary,Lamsial Puk a cave,Mizo Hlakungpui Mual,Thasiama Seno Neihna.

4.Lwangtlai:-It comprises of mainly hilly region. However, in the western side of the district there are dense forests.The place has splendid natural beauty in form of exotic landscapes of lush green hills stretching away to the horizon. The important places of interest include:Ngengpui Wildlife Sanctuary,Blue Mountain-It is the highest mountain peak in Mizoram. It is a highly revered peak,Phawngpui.

5.Sibuta Lung:-Sibuta Lung is a memorial stone found at Tachhip village, 20 Km from Aizawl town. Sibuta Lung was raised by a Palian chief about 300 years ago. The memorial Sibuta Lung offer a story of jilted love and lust for revenge.

6.Thenzawl:-A census town located in the middle of Mizoram,important for Mizo Traditional handloom Industry and a beautiful town located 45 kms from Aizawl.The main attractions here are Vantawng Falls-13th Highest fall in India,Chawngchilhi Puk,Tuirihiaua waterfall,Thenzawl Deer Park.

7.Lunglei:-The second largest town after Aizawl located 165 kms from Aizawl.It is also know a ‘bridge of Rock’ because of the bridge like rock found in the riverine area around Nghasih – a small tributary of the river Tlawng.Places to visit here includes Zobawk Sports Academy,Khawnglung Wildlife Sanctuary,Saikuti Hall,Kawmzawl Park,Thuamluaia Mual.

Best time to visit Mizoram is between October to March and the climate is mild, comfortable in summer and never freezing during winter,So you can enjoy Mizoram throughout the year.And when you are in Mizoram do give Zawlaidi,a Mizo Wine a try.

The Best way to get Mizoram is by Road from Guwahati or Shillong as the journey will let you through many exhilarating sceneries.It is also well connected by Rail and Airways also with being the nearest Railways Station in Silchar,Assam and from there it takes about 6-7 hours to Aizawl and Lunglei has an Airport,which is well connected with Kolkata and Guwahati.

As for permit requirement to visit Mizoram,Indian tourists need an Inner Line Permit. This is available from any Mizoram House.It’s also available at Lenpui Airport,for tourists arriving by flight.For Foreign Tourist a Restricted Area Permit (RAP),and must travel in groups of four or more people,or a married couple.They’ll only be allowed to stay for 10 days,and visit limited areas.It’s best to get the RAP from Delhi Mizoram House (Circular Road,Chankyapuri,New Delhi.Ph: +91 11 3016408. +91 11 6440954).
