  • Wat Arun–One of the most ionic temple in Bangkok on the bank of the river Chao Phraya. The temple derived its name from a Hindu God Aruna(The Sun God) and often known as the Temple of Dawn
  • Wat Phra Kaew–Know as The Temple of Emerald Buddha is one of the most sacred Buddhist Temple in Thailand,It is Located within the area of The Grand Palace(Wat Phra Kaew’s home),the temple enshrines a Buddha Statue craved out of a single block of Jade(Ornamental Stone).
  • Wat Pho–This temple is located next to The Grand Place also known as the Temple pf Reclining Buddha, home to Thailand’s largest Reclining Buddha Statue. Covered in a Gold Leaf ,this 43-meter long statue is covered in Gold Leaf and the Statue’s feet are decorated with mother-of-pearl depicting 108 auspicious sign of Buddha.

  • Wat Traimit–This temple is a must visit if you want to see The Golden Buddha which is one of the world’s largest solid gold Buddha statue.

Now After Temples lets Head  on to some Palace in Bangkok–

  • The Grand Palace–As the name suggest this palace is grand and was home to not only the Thai King and his court, but also the entire administrative seat of government.Within the crenelated walls were the country’s war ministry, state departments and even the mint.Situated in on the Bank of Chao Phraya in the Heart of Bangkok this palace indeed is made up of  numerous buildings, halls, pavilions set around open lawns, gardens and courtyards.
  • Suan Pakkad Palace–The Home of  Prince Chumbhotpong Paripatra and his wife, this Palace is now a Museum that consists of Thai Antiques. The Architecture, gardens and Thai Antiques make the museum worth a visit.
  • Ananta Samakhom Throne Hall–A former reception hall now serving the purpose of Museum,This Palace houses the Art of Kingdom Exhibit displaying all traditional crafts of the country.

Well after having the Tours of Temple and Palaces–Its time we head out for some Shopping Fun and Food Experience in Thai Style.. :)..What Say?

Well to start off Bangkok provide a great Shopping Experience and a Paradise for Shopaholic,as I think a Shopaholic will never be satisfied Shopping Day in and Day out in Bangkok. The Shopping experience in Air-Conditioned Mall,to the Street markets certainly add vivid colors to Bangkok,Ranging from Antiques to designer Jewellery to Leather Products to Electronic Goods.. :),Oh I am dreaming What I will get from there.. 😉

  • MBK Center–A huge Shopping complex with about 2000 stores,Do I need to say more..I am sure I will find everything I need under one roof.. 🙂
  • Siam Paragon, Siam–A walk from MKB Centre,Siam Paragon is generally for medium to high-class people who likes to spend the leisure time..And Well as a Tourist I don’t mind visiting this glass-and-steel luxury megamall with lots of recreational facilities.. 🙂
  • CentralWorld, Siam–Well I surely can’t miss this mall as for it Targets Youth providing wide range of trendy fashions that surely attract most of the youth..

Fuel Price,Indian Politicians and CommonMan

With the midst of rising the Petrol Prices and the proposal of curfew hours for filling stations to slash consumption by the petroleum minister Veerappa Moily,he had to withdraw the proposal amidst loud protest..So,TOI scanned through the Delhi Govt. officials fuel allotment i.e. how much they can use per month without paying any fuel charges..Check out this article.

The fact is Delhi CM and her 6 minister gets 700 ltrs and other ministers and officials gets around 400 ltrs to 200 ltrs monthly as per the article. And look how politely Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said “These entitlements are enough and if they use more they have to spends from their pocket”…She appears so humble.. 😛

Instead of providing free fuels I guess govt should start the Bus Pooling facility from every ministers house to their Offices at least that will save lots of fuels..

Now the politicians are getting so much of facilities and common man is dying like anything out of inflation….This is our Developing India 😦

My Interpretation on this..Check it out.. 🙂

Bihar Train Tragedy–Who is to be Blamed?

On 19th August 2013,The Dhamara station in Bihar’s Khagaria district witnessed a horrific train tragedy in which as per the reports 37 people lost their lives and around 24 others sustained injuries. The incident occurred between 7:30 am to 8:00 am when the Saharsa-Patna Rajyarani Express travelling at 80 kmph ran over them, the express train was not scheduled to stop at that station..

More details are available here–Hindustan Times.

Bihar Train Tragedy

This post is in no means to discuss the tragedy or to give a report on the tragedy rather I am writing this clarify who is to be blamed for this horrifying incident.

Who is to be blamed–The Government,The Railway Officials,The Linemen,The Passenger of the Train,The Loco Pilot or The People who were crossing the tracks….Tell me Who is to be blamed?

Since Dhamara is a very small station there is no facility of foot over-bridge and the people have to take the tracks to go either side of the Station and truly speaking this station does not see much crowd except this time of the year, the auspicious month of Sawan during which devotees heads to the Katyayani Temple and the way to reach this temple is through this station.

  • As I mentioned the Express train bound to Patna was not scheduled to stop at The Dhamara station,so it was travelling with its usual speed as I guess the it was given Green Signal by the lineman or the Railways,so blaming the Railway Person or the Lineman is out of question as they didn’t know that some people will be crossing the tracks,as we all know tracks are not meant to be used as footpaths or for crossing activities.
  • The question of blaming the Passengers in the Train is really out of context and they can never be in question.
  • Now most of the People are blaming the Loco Pilot of the Train but my question is What is there to blame him?He intentionally didn’t run the train on the people crossing the tracks and he tried his best to prevent the tragedy but to stop a train with 80 kmph and about 700 passenger on board is surely not like playing a game..Had he tried to save those 37 people the accident would have been more fatal, more lives would have been lost, more injuries would have been reported.
  • Now coming to the people who were crossing the Tracks-I feel there was some mistake on their parts as they knew they were crossing the railway tracks, they should have been more careful, had they looked on both sides(right and left),they could have easily sighted the train coming towards them and who the hell on earth doesn’t hear the horn of train or the sound of the engine–especially Engines of Indian Railways.I guess they were so immersed in devotion that they were far from reality.
  • The Government,The Railway Dept. has also a part to play in this tragedy,In India every year many people lost their lives crossing railway tracks, even though Railway is making a huge profit they are yet  not able to  provide certain amenities for the betterment of the People–No matter how small a station is,a Foot over-bridge is must, had their been a Foot over-bridge such kind of tragedy never would have taken place.

So all in all the Tragedy happened because of the negligence on the part of the People crossing the tracks and The Government and Railway Dept. for not providing required amenities to the People even after knowing the rush this time of the year.

Apart from that some people, better to call them mob took the incident to another level burning train coaches, uprooting tracks, beating up the loco pilot, destroying public properties and railway offices to show the anger.I wonder why they showed their anger after the incident, they could have shown their anger before and pressurizing the Govt. and The Railway Dept. to build a Foot Over-Bridge in Dhamara station and they could have saved the lives of 37 people.

With all the sympathy to People who lost their lives and condolences to their family I still believe it was those people on the tracks who were fully responsible because they were not aware..So,I urge everyone to be aware as much as you can in every step of life as there is no harm in being aware and awareness surely help us keep away many problems….

Duty of A Responsible Citizen-Some Points

India is a big Country with diversity in Religions,Cultures and Traditions and I believe this makes India stand out  and We Indians can really be proud of this.
But as India is developing it is taken off by many issues from Corruption to Pollution to many more. And on a day to day basis we find many new issues cropping up…But a as Responsible of Citizen of India did we ever tried to do our bit except for shouting at the Government….In most of the case even for a simpler matter we will blame the Government rather than trying to solve the issue and I guess that make the matter more worse…

Nevertheless remember we citizens are the one who are solely responsible for the development of this country and in this post I will share some simple points which I believe is not so difficult to follow in our day to day life..Remember “The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.”
We all are aware of our Fundamental Duties,if not then here it is and Even if we follow these fundamental duties we will surely be doing our bit in making India a Great Country..

So lets look at the points that make us a Good and Responsible Citizen…

  1. Obey Laws and Respect Authority-Don’t break laws and also refrain others for doing so.If not satisfied by any Law use Constitutional means to change the Law.
  2. Civic and Social Duty should be performed-Be aware about the issues affecting the society and provide solutions to them,Vote intelligently and Pay Taxes by proper means and use acts like RTI,RTE for the good of the society.
  3. Keep your surroundings and locality clean,Use Dustbin,Care for Public Property and Other People’s Property.
  4. Be Honest to your Country and Fellow Citizen
  5. Develop a deep sense of Patriotism towards you Country,Respect your Country’s Social and Economic Policies,Always contribute to the Welfare of our Country.
  6. Must be able to teach the Younger Generation to show Respect and Love  towards the Country.
  7. Make your Country Proud when visiting other Nations,Never speak bad about your Country.
  8. Help the Poor and Needy and Provide great Hospitality to both Foreign and Local Tourist.

This is it..and I guess its just simple 8 steps to make our Country a Great One and This not only applies to Indian Citizens but also to Citizens of Other Nations.. 🙂

Please share your views and comment if I have missed out anything.. :-).
And lastly a Cartoon Strip for all to enjoy.. 🙂

Encounters with Police I mean Indian Police

Earlier I wrote a Post on Indian Police with the Title Real Beggars of India. But Sometimes they comes so hard at you that you have no choice but to give them some money and make them leave your way

I had many encounters with Police and most of the time I was on the right side but still they were coming so hard at me.But as I was on the right side I did stand them and at last I ended up paying nothing to them. This post is about two incident that I faced back in my Engineering Days and co-incidentally both took place at the Railway Station .

Things I learned

  1. Know the rules and regulations of the state or place you are visiting.
  2. If you are right never hesitate to fight.
  3. No matter how hard it is never end up paying Money.
  4. Always remember any Government Officials are Public Servants.

Though I am posting the incident as Cartoon I hope it is able to convey the situation I faced… 🙂

1.Me and My Girlfriend at Guwahati Railway Station:-We were there to book my return ticket from Guwahati to Bangalore and a RPF(Railway Protection Force) Constable thought they we were fleeing, there was a heated argument of about 15 minutes. And it all came to an end after the intervention of a Lady Constable:-

2.Me at Rangia Railway Station:-I faced a Assam Police Officer in this station asking for PRC(Permanent Residence Certificate). Even in this situation also I had an argument and He also threatened me of not allowing to continue my travel.
